- 125g pitted dates
- 1 tblsp black treacle
- 1 tsp bicarbonate of soda
- ½ pt boiling water
- 75g miscatalog sugar
- 65g butter
- 3 eggs
- 250g self raising flour
- Ingredients for the sauce
- 50g dark brown sugar
- 50g butter
- 50ml cream
Method
Firstly mix together the dates black treacle bicarbonate of soda and the boiling water this will go frothy, then leave for 20 mins. After that put the mixture through a food processor. In a separate bowl cream together the butter and the sugar and then beat in the eggs 1 at a time, then when that is done beat in the processed mixture, this may split but don’t worry. Once mixed beat in the flour. Grease your individual moulds with lots of butter. Spread the mixture between the moulds and cook in a pre heated oven for 15-20 mins at 200c. While that is cooking we can make the sauce. In a heated sauce pan sir the butter and the sugar together until smooth then add in the cream, bring to the boil and remove. Take out the hot puddings when cooked (to check if cooked put a knife in the centre, when removed is clean its ready) serve with the hot sauce over it YUM!
